Playing Bogart, the latest album from 23 Jewels, is a musical masterpiece that showcases the band's incredible talent and versatility. The album features a mix of genres, including jazz, blues, and rock, all fused together to create a unique sound that is both fresh and timeless.

From the opening track, "Bogart's Blues," the listener is transported to a smoky jazz club, with the sultry vocals of lead singer Sarah Williams leading the way. The band's musicianship is on full display throughout the album, with intricate guitar riffs, driving bass lines, and dynamic percussion.

One standout track is "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," a cover of Marilyn Monroe's classic song from the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. 23 Jewels puts their own spin on the song, infusing it with a rock edge that is both playful and seductive.

Another highlight is "Love Me Like You Mean It," a soulful ballad that showcases Williams' powerful vocals. The song builds to a crescendo, with the band's instrumentation perfectly complementing Williams' emotive performance.

Thank you for posting this. Unfairly neglected. Lyrically and musically fine.
Quite possibly the greatest song of the 20th century. Also, that's my brother playing the drums.

25+ years ago this was a song I recorded on a cassette from a radio show on Uni Radio in Perth (WA).  I was struck by its complexity in the era of punk, and the quality of the guitar playing, the lyrics, the arrangement - everyhting really.  It struck a chord that stayed with me, although I was possibly one of about half a dozen people in perth who had ever heard it.  It has taken me a long time to track this down, and I see many others share this view.  I then searched a little more and came across this: http://www.nicholassimpson.com/
The writer, whose talent in music is obvious.  As a musician turned lawyer, I express appreciation, across the years, across thousands of miles, for a law student/musician who changed the way I listened to music.

Supported these guys once  I still have them down as best Nottingham band around at the time (definitely better than whatever iteration of noisy beat combo I was in at the time  )

Thanks. This is magnificent. I've always loved the Any Trouble version but had never heard the original before, although the writer (who I believe has commented here) would get up and sing it with Any Trouble at various gigs in the 80s. Perhaps you could set us straight on the lyrics as there are some howlers on the lyric sites. What comes just after 'Let me out into the night time'? I noticed some sites have "We can lurch it into gear" instead of "Weekend lurches into gear". You must have a giggle reading them!

One of my all time favourites - bought it when it came out, still have it, still play it.

Indeed. Or Jiff Paaz, as we often called him. Is he still in the land of the living?
